V2500 Achieves One Hundred Million Flight Hours
Three Engine Variants Achieve Major Milestone
(firmenpresse) - GLASTONBURY, CT -- (Marketwire) -- 02/15/12 -- International Aero Engines' V2500 engine has reached a milestone of major proportions -- one hundred million flight hours.
Late last year the milestone was achieved. It was attained by three versions of the engine -- the A1, A5 and D5. The A engine has powered A320 series aircraft. The D variant was a side-mount version for the MD-90.
The newest version of the engine -- the V2500-E5 -- has yet to attain flight hours. It is the first V2500 military application and will provide power to the new KC-390 tanker/cargo aircraft being built by Embraer.
The A5 series includes IAE's SelectOne™ configuration that accounts for about 80 million flight hours. The A1 has surpassed upwards of 15 million hours, with the D5 accumulating about seven million. Deliveries of the SelectTwo™ option -- with launch customers GulfAir and USAirways -- will take place in 2013.

IAE is a multinational aero engine consortium whose shareholders comprise of Pratt & Whitney (NYSE: UTX), Rolls-Royce (LSE: RR), Japanese Aero Engines Corporation and MTU Aero Engines. Through 2011, over 4,900 V2500 engines have been delivered and nearly 2,000 more engines are on order with close to 200 customers around the world.
