Minister Toews' Statement on Removals From 'Wanted by the CBSA' List
(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 02/14/12 -- The Honourable Vic Toews, Minister of Public Safety, issued the following statement after the Canada Border Services Agency today announced the removals of Ian Getfield and Steven Nairn.
"Apprehended in late January by Toronto Police Service, Mr. Getfield has been removed from Canada. He failed to comply with the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) and is inadmissible on the grounds of serious criminality. Mr. Nairn, of Vancouver, was also removed, having been found inadmissible on the same grounds.
The success of the "Wanted by the CBSA" initiative signals to those who would engage in criminal activity and threaten the safety of our communities and citizens, that Canadians will not stand idly by. Our Government is committed to removing these individuals, whose flagrant violation of our laws requires a decisive response."
