(firmenpresse) - Bizerba presents checkweighers at Anuga FoodTec in Cologne

Balingen, 14th February 2012 – At Anuga FoodTec 2012, the international trade fair for food and beverage technology in Cologne, from 27 to 30 March, Bizerba will be presenting the checkweighers CWP Neptune for unpackaged and easily perishable foodstuffs and CWL Eco, which now even weighs in a tilted position and in accordance with requirements (hall 10.1, stand 070).

To the exact gram: regulating portioning processes in real time

The CWP Neptune checkweigher has a particularly hygienic design and supports manufacturers in preventing contamination in unpackaged and easily perishable foods such as mince, fish, poultry, baked goods and dairy products, so that they remain fresh for longer.

With the help of the software _statistics.BRAIN, production managers control filling in real time. In the event of deviations from the target value, employees can optimise the process on site, reducing give-away and avoiding under-filling, which is prohibited by law. The weight measurements can be documented without loopholes, meaning that in the event of doubt, companies can prove that each batch left the factory with the correct weight. "The consumers are happy, brand loyalty and competitiveness increase and raw material wastage is reduced," explains Dieter Conzelmann, Director of Industry Solutions. "Overall, it's an investment that pays of very quickly."

Saving packaging waste – protecting resources

The system picks out portions with incorrect weights and feeds them back into the production flow before they have even been packaged. This saves packaging waste, as manufacturers normally don't register incorrectly weighed goods until after packing and have to unpack them, if that's even possible. Conzelmann: "At the moment, there isn't a better way to protect resources out there." The CWP Neptune is equipped with the WE-FOOD interface – a new standard for recording operating data in the meat production industry – and can be connected to the company's data processing structure easily as a plug-and-play device.

Also operable with gloves: the scratch-resistant touchscreen terminal iS70

The industry terminal iS70 is a fully-fledged PC with integrated weighing technology, which controls weighing at all information points and transfers the data to the company's data processing system. It is designed for installation in particularly harsh surroundings, for example in slaughterhouses.

Conzelmann: "Until now it has been customary to protect PCs by packing them in strong metal cases. This wastes space and has the disadvantage that temperature cannot be regulated very easily. In the event of high temperatures, the harddrives break and production stops. In the iS70, heat is directed out via an aluminium plate on the back of the device. This increases the reliability of production systems."

Thanks to the new surface technology glass-film-glass (GFG), operators can even operate the touchscreen and confirm orders using the tip of a knife or when wearing chain gloves. The user interface is designed intuitively, so that untrained personnel can learn to deal with the device within a short period of time. The iS70 is available with a 15.4 or 19 inch display.

Defying physics: scales in a tilted position

The CWL Eco checkweigher is suitable for all manufacturers that produce foodstuffs industrially. It offers a high standard of hygiene and the possibility to weigh foodstuffs according to requirements, even in a tilted position, and facilitates a number of applications in combination with other devices, for example a labeller.

For example: the CWL Eco helps cheese manufacturers to estimate the level of maturity of whole blocks of cheese. "It works like this: they weigh the cheese before it goes through the maturing process. The Bizerba GLM-B labeller applies a label with the weight and tracking number and records the data in the data processing system," explains Conzelmann. "The employees weigh the cheese again after the maturing process and decide if the cheese is mature or not using the weight loss."

The CWL Eco seems to defy the laws of physics as it can now weigh in a tilted position. Conzelmann explains how producers can save space thanks to this: "Normally before weighing you need a belt to balance out the height difference with the upstream device. The CWL Eco now completes this task itself, whilst still weighing accurately and according to requirements. The stainless steel casing meets protection class IP 65 and is therefore suited for use in an industrial environment as well as daily cleaning with water and cleaning agents.
