Free resources for students and teachers encourage sound habits for managing this precious resource for future generations

(firmenpresse) - MONTREAL, QUEBEC and WASHINGTON, DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA -- (Marketwire) -- 02/02/12 -- ONE DROP today announced a project on the ePals community, an online social network that reaches nearly 25 million teachers, parents and students from 200 countries, in order to invite primary and secondary school students to take part in fun, educational and inspirational activities on water-related issues. Starting today, this international platform will make learning tools, designed by ONE DROP, available free of charge to students and teachers. As teachers often use the ePals network to help their students learn a second language, ONE DROP will be offering activities in French, English and Spanish.

"ONE DROP's mission, in addition to fighting poverty by promoting access to water for all, is to inform and to mobilize communities about the importance of taking care of water, an invaluable resource essential to life," states ONE DROP's Executive Director Lili-Anna Peresa. "Through its model of engaging relationships, the ePals network is another innovative way of creating a forum on water-related issues while encouraging creativity."

In terms of content, ONE DROP's ePals page, through various educational activities, allows students to use a creative approach with an environmental touch. One of the projects is based on the Poetic Social Mission, the space voyage undertaken by Guy Laliberte, architect and president of ONE DROP, in September 2009. Students are invited to draw inspiration from Yann Martel's Poem, "What the Drop of Water Had to Say", and create their own composition. What the Drop of Water Had to Say, served as the underlying theme for Moving Stars and Earth for Water, a planetary communication operation coordinated by Guy Laliberte while aboard the International Space Station.

Students will also be invited to share their opinion by taking part in the ONE DROP discussion forum on water-related issues. Other activities, including some related with the AQUA museum exhibit, will help raise awareness among youth. Furthermore, a series of educational activities has also been developed for teachers to allow them to discuss water-related issues in class. All teaching material is also available in French, English and Spanish.
