Media Advisory: Government of Canada Supports Sealers
(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 02/01/12 -- To reaffirm the Government's continued support for Canadian sealers, the Honourable Keith Ashfield, Minister of Fisheries and Oceans; the Honourable Leona Aglukkaq, Minister of Health and Minister for the Canadian Northern Economic Development Agency; the Honourable Peter Penashue, Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs, and President of the Queen's Privy Council for Canada and Regional Minister for Newfoundland and Labrador; and the Honourable Steven Blaney, Minister of Veterans Affairs and Minister representing Quebec will be joined by Minister Darin King, Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture, Newfoundland and Labrador; Minister James Arreak, Minister of Environment and Minister of Culture, Language, Elders and Youth, Nunavut; Denis Longuepee (Magdalen Island Sealing Association) and David Hutton (Vice-Chairman of the Fur Institute of Canada) in a photo-opportunity and pinning ceremony in the Foyer of the House of Commons.
Officials from the Department of Fisheries and Oceans will be available for a technical briefing on the sustainability, humane nature and economic importance of the Canadian seal harvest.
