Startup America Partnership Celebrates One Year Anniversary as Nine New Startup Regions Launch
Entrepreneurial Leaders Showcase Startups at Fourteen Events Hosted Across the Country
(firmenpresse) - WASHINGTON, DC -- (Marketwire) -- 01/31/12 -- Today, on the one year anniversary of the Startup America Partnership, nine new Startup America Regions are launching and fourteen events are taking place throughout the country to celebrate young companies and galvanize the startup ecosystems throughout America. Nearly 4,000 entrepreneurs, business leaders and officials will congregate at events from Honolulu and St. Louis to Chicago and Providence to showcase their local startups.
"The Startup America Partnership has made great strides in its first year, and we're appreciative of everybody who has stepped forward to help," said Steve Case, chairman of the Startup America Partnership. "We're celebrating an important milestone today, but more importantly, celebrating the entrepreneurs who will create the next generation of great American companies."
Now launched in 17 different states, Startup Regions are led by local entrepreneurs focused on making their region a great place to start and grow a company. They are meant to be community-driven and inclusive initiatives. The Regions enable the entire community to recognize the importance of startups to their economy, rally together around the Startup America principles, identify "big ideas" that can truly drive change, and celebrate their own entrepreneurs as American heroes.
"What better way to spend our one year anniversary than to bring together the amazing entrepreneurs that are starting and growing companies throughout the United States," said Scott Case, CEO of the Startup America Partnership. "We're incredibly excited by how far we've come in the past year, and we can't wait to see what the Startup Regions accomplish in 2012."
Today's anniversary events range in theme, structure and content, based on the focus of each region and its local audience. They vary from a state-wide startup fair in Iowa to an "Ideas Summit" in DC and an intimate fireside chat with board member Tory Burch in Boston. Startup America Chairman Steve Case will join US CTO Aneesh Chopra at Startup Virginia's breakfast meeting, while CEO Scott Case will provide the keynote at the National Anniversary event taking place with Startup Illinois in Chicago. Meanwhile, Jean Case, CEO of the Case Foundation, will join Startup America board member Pamela Contag and Dell's Entrepreneur in Residence Ingrid Vanderveldt in Nashville for a full day of programming focused on female entrepreneurs and social entrepreneurship.
