The International Association of Business Communicators Launch New Program to Give Back to Their Community
(firmenpresse) - VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA -- (Marketwire) -- 01/25/12 -- In the spirit of giving, the International Association of Business Communications (IABC) get ready to launch to give back to their community.
IABC is founded on the basis of giving and facilitating others to achieve their communications goals. The program will allow members to extend their reach by adopting a charity and volunteering to help solve their communications issues.
IABC hopes to make a difference in the local community, while showcasing the communications profession and its flagship association.
The Gift of Communications will be modeled after several other IABC Gift of Communications programs, as well as the similar successful program run by IABC/BC's social media (SIG) last year, who adopted as their charity.
"Non-profits have limited resources and limited budgets, but also willing to experiment more freely," says Gus Fosarolli, a volunteer with the social media SIG.
"We wanted to extend our combined experience in social media to help one of these organizations learn how to harness the power of social media for social good. We wanted to work hand in hand with them to reach a goal around a specific campaign."
IABC/BC will be inviting submissions from non-profit agencies through Volunteer Vancouver, United Way and the chapter's social media.
The association hopes to adopt up to two charities in the next couple of months, depending on the number of volunteers involved in the program.
The of IABC is one of 105 chapters worldwide and is the second largest chapter in the world. With more than 600 members from the Lower Mainland business communications industry, the chapter has an international reputation for progressive, professional communication.
Members hold positions in public relations, corporate communications, investor relations, graphic design and writing.
