(firmenpresse) - VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA -- (Marketwire) -- 01/24/12 -- For the fourth consecutive year, the Fraser Institute is ranked as the top think-tank in Canada, and has for the last two years been the only Canadian organization to rank among the top 30 think-tanks worldwide, according to the 2011 published by the University of Pennsylvania.

The annual index, which is based on a survey of more than 1,500 scholars, policy makers, and journalists representing 120 countries, ranked the Fraser Institute first among 97 think-tanks in Canada, and 30th among 6,545 think-tanks from 182 countries overall.

On key measures, the Fraser Institute ranked:

Founded in 1974, the Fraser Institute is one of Canada's oldest independent economic and public policy research organizations and Canada's only nationally active think-tank, with offices in Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, and Montreal. The Fraser Institute is also Canada's only international think-tank, leading a global group of allied organizations in 80 countries and territories through the Economic Freedom Network.

"For nearly 40 years, the Fraser Institute's trusted, evidence-based research into issues that matter to Canadian families has helped citizens and governments alike make more informed policy choices," said Dr. Brett Skinner, Fraser Institute president and CEO.

"As a non-profit, non-political, non-government, and non-business voice, the Fraser Institute offers an independent and indispensable contribution to the public policy conversation in Canada."
