Swinton Commercial Advises Fleet Managers to Urge Drivers Get Their Eyes Checked Regularly

ID: 1075130

(firmenpresse) - MANCHESTER, UNITED KINGDOM -- (Marketwire) -- 01/22/12 -- Swinton Commercial, a leading broker, is advising fleet managers to encourage drivers to get their eyes checked regularly, after survey results revealed that a significant portion of drivers fail the eye test.

Almost 3%of commercial drivers in UK failed a roadside vision test when randomly stopped as part of research carried out by Swinton Commercial last year.

Although eye tests are a necessary condition of receiving a driving license, eyesight is not always regularly checked afterwards, says Swinton Commercial.

Swinton Commercial points out that eyesight should be tested at least once a year, particularly for drivers over the age of 30, when eyesight can start to deteriorate.

Studies show that bad eyesight can severely increase the risk of accidents on the road.

Jolene Shaw, Technical Referral Advisor at Swinton , said: "It's very important for fleet managers to make sure their drivers are up to scratch when it comes to eyesight, which can dramatically reduce the likelihood that they will have an accident. Encouraging your fleet to sit an eye exam in January is a great way to start of the New Year with a clean slate and could even work to reduce your fleet insurance premiums."
