Gregory Seelhoefer, M.D. Joins the Methodist Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Group at Willowbrook and Will Serve as Faculty for the New Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship
Dr. Seelhoefer Brings Family Medicine and Sports Medicine Expertise to the Primary Care Sports Medicine Program and Adds to the Unique Scope of Services the Group of Orthopedic Specialists Provides
(firmenpresse) - HOUSTON, TX -- (Marketwire) -- 01/13/12 -- has joined the recognized group of specialists of , adding to the scope of specialized services the group provides to the active of all ages in the Northwest Houston community.
Seelhoefer will also serve as faculty for the recently accredited Primary Care Sports Medicine (PCSM) Fellowship, which will be based at Methodist Willowbrook Hospital. One of only two such programs in the greater Houston area, this program -- through The Methodist Hospital System Graduate Medical Education program under its affiliation with Weil Cornell Medical School -- will be directed by specialist.
Seelhoefer will also work in a collaborative effort with the physical therapists, athletic trainers and board certified, fellowship trained orthopedic specialists in hand and upper extremity, foot and ankle, spine and orthopedic sports medicine.
Fellowship trained in PCSM, Seelhoefer's areas of specialty include sports injuries and concussion management as well as asthma, heart problems, diabetes, and nutrition.

Before joining Methodist Orthopedics & Sports Medicine at Willowbrook, Seelhoefer served as team physician for area colleges, high schools and organized sports clubs in Michigan and North Texas. He also managed health clinics for high school students and their families, while serving as a mentor to area youth groups.
Prior to completing a Family Medicine Residency with an emphasis on Sports Medicine at Lutheran General Hospital, Dr. Seelhoefer obtained his Doctor of Medicine from Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. He is also a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine, and the American College of Sports Medicine.
Located on the Methodist Willowbrook Hospital campus, Seelhoefer is now seeing patients at the group's new state-of-the-art orthopedic, sports medicine and rehabilitation facility. Officially opening earlier this year, the facility gives the physicians access to the latest technology and rehabilitation resources.
The hospital is a not-for-profit, faith based hospital, which is part of The Methodist Hospital System. It has expanded its campus in Northwest Houston to serve the area in a more comprehensive way.
Methodist Willowbrook Hospital has received its chest pain and stroke accreditations, performs complex surgeries such as neurosurgery and open heart, and focuses on women and children in its new Women's & Children's Pavilion.
