National Safe Boating Council Offers Training Opportunities, Financial Support for Close-Quarters Course

Boating Safety Professionals Encouraged to Advance Career Training

(firmenpresse) - BRISTOW, VA -- (Marketwire) -- 01/12/12 -- What is the recipe for success? Try one part ambition, one part training and you get the (NSBC) training courses for professionals. The NSBC, as part of its mission to promote safer boating through education, outreach, and training, has developed two courses to address growing needs identified amongst professionals in the recreational boating community: Instructor Close-Quarters Boat Control Course and its Boating Safety Instructor Training Course.

"These courses are quintessential for professionals that spend their time on the water, in a boat," said Virgil Chambers, executive director of the NSBC. "If any one wants to move their professional boating career in the right direction, the NSBC's courses help to get them there."

The Instructor Close-Quarters Boat Control Course is supported through a U.S. Coast Guard grant and, because of this, is able to assist course attendees with training costs. This course focuses on maneuvers and techniques used for basic boat handling and to control a boat in close quarters, such as docking, coming alongside, backing and turning in a narrow space. The curriculum is presented in an easy-to-follow format. The course will be held on March 1 - 2, 2012, in San Diego, Calif. The Boating Safety Instructor Training Course partners with the (NASBLA), focusing on the NASBLA Standards by providing the proper interpretation of each standard for instructors who will be teaching course content. The course gives multiple approaches to teach the information with interactive skits and scenarios. This course is intended to aid states and organizations by having qualified and capable boating education instructors and giving them professional development, growth and recognition. The course will be held on February 29 - March 1, 2012, at the in San Diego, Calif. The deadline to register for this course is February 1, 2012.
