ChartWise Medical Systems Introduces ICD-9 to ICD-10 Crosswalk Functionality
(firmenpresse) - WAKEFIELD, RI -- (Marketwire) -- 01/10/12 -- ChartWise Medical Systems, Inc., (), an innovative Computer-Assisted Clinical Documentation Improvement software company, today announced that its flagship product, ChartWise:CDI, now includes support for both the current ICD-9 and forthcoming ICD-10 coding systems. ICD-10 is scheduled for an October, 2013 rollout in the United States and is already the subject of much discussion in the healthcare technology industry.
ChartWise has elected to introduce ICD-10 functionality now to help ease the transition to the new system for its clients. With the ChartWise:CDI product, coders will now have the ability to hover over an ICD-9 code and view a pop-up displaying its corresponding ICD-10 code. By placing these updates in front of documentation specialists now, ChartWise is aiming to make them more comfortable with ICD-10 in advance of the switch.
"Most CDI vendors are focusing solely on the software they will provide once ICD-10 hits," said Dr. Jon Elion, founder and CEO of ChartWise. ChartWise's new crosswalk functionality will not only be a benefit to its customers leading up to the transition to ICD-10, but will prove a beneficial tool afterwards as well. The Computer-Assisted Clinical Documentation Improvement software will include functionality to display the older, ICD-9 equivalent of the new ICD-10 codes they're implementing.
