(firmenpresse) - HOUSTON, TX -- (Marketwire) -- 01/05/12 -- , the leading provider of services and technology specializing in improved for the oil and gas, petrochemical, and mining industries, is offering spring 2012 training on American Petroleum Institute (API) codes 571 ("Damage Mechanisms Affecting Fixed Equipment in the Refining and Petrochemical Industries") and 580 ("Advanced Knowledge of Risk-Based Inspection").
The API 571 training focuses on effectively preparing students for the API 571 examination. In addition, the class helps attendees see the context for corrosion analysis and how it drives conclusions based on Risk Based Inspection methodology. Similarly, the API 580 training prepares students for the API 580 exam while also providing multiple examples of applying the theory in the real world. Both classes are applicable for engineers and inspectors in the petrochemical industry and enable them to operate on the leading edges of asset integrity.
Marc McConnell, the lead instructor for both classes, has 30 years of experience as an owner-user and consultant to the refining and chemical process industries, is a licensed Texas Professional Engineer, and is certified in API 510, API 571, API 577, and API 580. Mr. McConnell has presented multiple technical papers at NACE, NPRA, and ASME, and he was the 2011 chairman of the NACE TEG205X Refining Symposium. He was also a contributing editor to API 571 (2nd Edition), API 584 (not yet released), and API 575.
