Young Canadians Invited to Design a Better Community for 2012
(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 01/05/12 -- The Michaelle Jean Foundation (FMJF) and EQ3 invite young Canadians to kick off the New Year by conveying their vision of the society of their dreams, through the Generation Art challenge.
Targeting those aged 15 to 30, from across Canada, the initiative gives youth a chance to express their concerns and their aspirations by creating original artwork. Winners will benefit from the support of EQ3 designers and will receive a gift certificate. The selected artwork will be featured on an exclusive product line sold in EQ3 stores across the country. All proceeds will be reinvested in youth initiatives, through FMJF.
"Canadian youth are optimistic," said former governor general Michaelle Jean. "But they are no less disturbed by injustice, or less alert to the inequalities that affect many young people. Generation Art offers them a platform for expression and dialogue."
Jean-Daniel Lafond, Co-President and CEO of FMJF concurs: "Generation Art is a tribute to artists who are changing the world. Art, as culture and education, is a peaceful weapon of mass construction, and young people today, in Canada and elsewhere, know its power to bring about change in contemporary societies."
According to Peter Tielmann, President of EQ3, "The vision of young people united for a better society, reflected in the Generation Art project, is an opportunity for us to sensitize our customers, to deliver a message of hope, and to help create programs for the Michaelle Jean Foundation destined for underserved youth."
Submission deadline is January 10, 2012. For more info: .
