New Book by Jay W. Vogt Helps Non-Profits Better Organize Their Boards

In his new book, Jay lays out a process for creating workable goals for the year for a board of directors, as well as creating a more effective board overall.
"Too often people complain that their boards are not focused on the right things, that they are not as productive as they could be," Vogt explains in the opening chapter. With such failings in mind, Vogt decided to apply his nearly 30 years of expertise working with non-profit boards toward designing a conversation that helps boards identify their roles, set goals, and create an annual workplan.
Divided into four sections, each segment uses timed exercises and thought-provoking questions to lead the board through the conversation. The workbook encourages independent and group work, and includes discussion, assessment, and goal-setting.
"Board Roles to Board Goals" helps the Board Chair develop an annual workplan with clear goals that has the support of board members. Using the workbook as a guide, this work can be done without expensive workshops and outside consultants. Boards that set goals for themselves accomplish more, and experience greater satisfaction in their work.
