Hampton Animal Clinic Urges Pet Owners to Make Boarding Plans Early

"Due to an elongated soft palate, these dogs can struggle to breathe, and sadly many have died while in transit. Placing any pet in a cargo hold is a risky choice and can be extremely traumatic for the animal."
The animal clinic also emphasized that pet boarding is not just for pet owners who are traveling. Individuals that are hosting large family gatherings or open house parties may also wish to consider boarding their pet for a night.
"Even if you are home hosting a party, you may wish to consider boarding your pet for one night," said Dr. Savell. "If your pet becomes frightened or anxious around large groups of people, cat and will ensure that your pet is relaxed and happy. Boarding will also ensure your pet doesn't have too much fun at the party -- ingesting chocolate or other poisonous foods -- and end up in the vet emergency room."
