Car Rental Reservations Jump for 2011 Holiday Season
Airport Car Rentals Increase 11 Percent; Neighborhood "Home-City" Reservations up 20 Percent
(firmenpresse) - ST. LOUIS, MO -- (Marketwire) -- 12/20/11 -- Airport car rental reservations for the Christmas holiday are up more than 11 percent over last year for the , and brands, all owned and operated by .

For example, Alamo, Enterprise and National collectively lead with more than one-third of all airport business in the United States and Canada. More specifically, Enterprise Holdings' portfolio of brands hit a new record this year for combined airport market share: 34.4 percent, up more than six points since the company's 2007 acquisition of the Alamo and National brands.
The company's leadership role, however, is even more significant in the local car rental market, where Christmas week reservations are up more than 20 percent. The Enterprise Rent-A-Car neighborhood network includes more than offices located within 15 miles of 90 percent of the U.S. population -- almost twice as many locations as its nearest U.S. competitor.

According to , approximately 83.6 million people (91 percent of holiday travelers) plan to take to the nation's roadways this year-end holiday travel season. Automobile travel remains the preferred choice of transportation for 2011-12 year-end holiday travelers, as nearly 27 percent of the total U.S. population will hit the road.
