Don't Risk Invalidating Your Insurance Warns Swinton Commercial
(firmenpresse) - MANCHESTER, UNITED KINGDOM -- (Marketwire) -- 12/18/11 -- Swinton Commercial, providers of to their customers, is warning delivery drivers that they may be invalidating their van insurance on a day-to-day basis, by leaving their vans unlocked with their engines running while delivering goods.
With an estimated 40% of British drivers being victims of motor crimes, according to the Association of Police Officer's Vehicle Crime Intelligence Service (AVCIS), Swinton is encouraging all van drivers to take extra care of their vehicles over the festive period.
At a chaotic time of year, delivery drivers are running a tight ship, and may be tempted to leave their vehicles unlocked with the engines running as they drop off valuable goods. Swinton Commercial is warning drivers that their policies may be invalidated if the vehicle was stolen in this situation.
Phil Moss, Commercial Vehicle Manager at Swinton Commercial stated that: "Van drivers should never leave expensive GPS equipment, mobile phones and valuable goods unlocked in their vans whilst delivering items. However, during the Christmas period it is more important than ever for delivery drivers to lock up their vehicles when dispatching goods as valuable items could be quickly grabbed by thieves, even if the vehicle itself isn't."
