(firmenpresse) - SAN JOSE, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 12/15/11 -- In his new novel, "No More Heroes" (), author Henry Biernacki draws on his experiences as a world traveler and pilot for Virgin America airline to explore the relationships that enrich the travel experience.

It's the story of Niklas, who's in his 20s, and Suria, a dying 80-something known as "Foxybird." When the two become friends, Niklas regales Foxy with tales of the places he's been and the people he's met along the way, expanding her world even as her illness shrinks it. But Niklas' travels are also an inner journey as he searches for deeper meaning in his life.

The book's chapters are vignettes, each musings or meditations on an experience punctuated with philosophical insights.

"The message is of life and how it is important to live with intensity; for people to follow their interests, and to enjoy the fleeting moments of each passing day spent with people they care about," Biernacki says.

Biernacki has been traveling since he was 17 and boarded a Greyhound bus for a journey from Colorado to Mexico. In 1997, he traveled around the world, sleeping on the streets and spending just $3,700 to circle the globe. On that journey, he says, he met Mother Teresa three days before her death. He has traveled to 120 countries, from North Korea to Kashmir, carrying only a rucksack and a few plastic zipper bags as luggage. "No More Heroes" is infused with real-life descriptions of various locales.

"'No More Heroes' touches on far more than the basics of what people do while traveling on the road: It touches on the human spirit of what occurs during the time traveling and when someone returns home," writes Natasha in a review posted on amazon.com.

"Beginning a book written by someone who has traveled to so many countries one would think it is merely about his experiences only to find out the complete opposite. It is about the people who mean so much."

Henry Biernacki has traveled to more than 120 countries and continues to travel. He is a captain for Virgin American airlines. He holds a bachelor's degree in romance languages and international affairs. He lived in France, Germany, Taiwan, the West Indies and Mexico before settling in San Jose.
