Longest Oil Skimmer Belt a Success for Canadian Railway System

The Looped Fuzzy Belt™, which measures over 200 feet in length, drops into a monitoring well to remove weathered diesel.
The Canadian railway industry has been forced to downsize operations in recent times due to less expensive methods of moving freight to the far North. The result has been the closing of many remote train depots that once serviced the mining and hydro-power industries. After decades of constant activity, many of these depots contaminated the local groundwater. To maintain the pristine wilderness, the railways sought a solution to clean the contaminated groundwater and approached Abanaki Corporation for an environmentally responsible solution.
Abanaki's PetroXtractor provides efficient and cost-effective remediation of groundwater contaminated by oil using existing recovery and monitoring wells. The oil skimmer wiper blades scrape oil from the belt and discharge it into an oil concentrator, a small gravity separator that removes any trace water from the skimmed oil. The waste oil flows out of the concentrator into a transfer tank where a pump activated by float switches sends the oil to a customer-provided waste oil vessel.
