Governor General Announces 23 Mentions in Dispatches
(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 12/14/11 -- His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General and Commander-in-Chief of Canada, announced today the names of 23 individuals mentioned in dispatches for specific achievements that have brought honour to the Canadian Forces and to Canada. A ceremony will take place at a later date and will be announced by the Department of National Defence.
Mentions in Dispatches are a national honour created to recognize valiant conduct, devotion to duty or other distinguished service. It is given to members of the Canadian Forces on active service or to other individuals working with, or in conjunction with, the Canadian Forces. Recipients are entitled to wear a bronze oak leaf on the appropriate campaign or service medal ribbon.
MENTIONED IN DISPATCHES
(i) For operational and security reasons, the name of one other recipient mentioned in dispatches will not be released.
