Support for Apple iOS 5 and Android Allows Companies to Secure Corporate Data and Enforce Company Policies on Smartphones and Tablets

With Avalanche , administrators are able to track Apple and Android devices and receive key information about them, including street-level mapping of their location, platform data, battery levels, Wi-Fi status, Bluetooth* information, VPN configuration and more. Devices that are lost or stolen can be wiped or locked remotely to protect corporate data, and administrators can create, revise and deploy policies and limit access to peripheral devices or unapproved applications.
In the new release, Wavelink now offers support for both the Apple MDM (Mobile Device Management) protocol and the Google C2DM (Cloud to Device Messaging) protocol. The Apple MDM protocol allows Avalanche to centrally send out device updates on-demand and allows those updates to install in the background. Administrators are able to see any existing profiles that have been installed by the end user as well as a list of all installed software packages, regardless of their source. They are also able to add or make changes to existing policies without end-user intervention, thereby maintaining a high level of productivity.
The Google C2DM protocol allows Avalanche to wake up Android-based devices on-demand to perform time-critical functions. The Avalanche client will check in with the smartphone server to download new policies and security functions and to upload statistics and location information.
Other new features in Avalanche SmartDevice Server 2.0 include:
New dashboard interface that provides a clear and immediate view of the health of Android and iOS devices, including drill-through capability
Support for retrieval of active software on Apple devices
Ability to distribute AppStore software shortcuts
Support for carrier APN and proxy profiles
WebClip support, which allows URL shortcuts to be placed on the Apple or Android desktop
