Canadian International Trade Tribunal Initiates Final Inquiry
Pup Joints from China
(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 12/13/11 -- The Canadian International Trade Tribunal today initiated an inquiry respecting the dumping and subsidizing of oil country tubular goods pup joints, made of carbon or alloy steel, welded or seamless, heat-treated or not heat-treated, regardless of end finish, having an outside diameter from 2 3/8 inches to 4 1/2 inches (60.3 mm to 114.3 mm), in all grades, in lengths from 2 feet to 12 feet (61 cm to 366 cm), originating in or exported from the People's Republic of China. The final injury inquiry was initiated further to a notice received from the Canada Border Services Agency stating that preliminary determinations had been made respecting the dumping and subsidizing of the above-mentioned pup joints.
On April 10, 2012, the Tribunal will determine whether the dumping and subsidizing have caused injury or retardation or are threatening to cause injury.
The Tribunal is an independent quasi-judicial body that reports to Parliament through the Minister of Finance. It hears cases on dumped and subsidized imports, safeguard complaints, complaints about federal government procurement and appeals of customs and excise tax rulings. When requested by the federal government, the Tribunal also provides advice on other economic, trade and tariff matters.
