Successful Trading is Based on Training and Support as Well as Skill, According to STA

(firmenpresse) - LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM -- (Marketwire) -- 12/08/11 -- Whilst talents are needed to forge a successful trading career, such as an aptitude for figures and mathematics, according to trading and broking firm, Schneider Trading Associates (STA), a certain level of training and on-going support is needed for individuals to rise to the top.

As distinguished psychologist and author, Brett N. Steenbarger, has observed trading is a performance activity and a learning process has to be undertaken. Any musician or sports person develops over a period of time by applying knowledge to a performance and, often, reading the theory without the practical performance will not lead to success. Steenbarger states in his paper entitled Five Guiding Principles of Trading Psychology, "It is impossible to sustain success... without honing one's performance--and by making sure that you don't lose your capital in the learning process."

STA's sponsored Professional Trader Programme ensures trainee traders are performing, after just two weeks of starting the course. However, to ensure no capital, or confidence, is lost the performances are assumed on simulators; this helps the budding traders understand how to apply knowledge and theory to the markets in order to develop their expertise.

For those who complete the initial four week programme and its assessments successfully, which is offered at no cost to the trainees, a three year self-employed training and mentorship place at STA is offered. The London trading house believes this is also key to a fruitful career in trading as it is on-going support and development that builds the required confidence. In addition, continual access to trainers and seasoned professionals helps the new traders find the best fit between their abilities and the strategies and markets they are trading, which results in less performance problems.

Matt Silvester, Head of Training at STA, sees the benefit of and offering support on an everyday basis. Matt explains: "Traders often have a combination of a talent that they have been born with and skills that they have developed through their life. However, the difference between a good and a great trader is being nurtured, trained and supported, which amongst other things gives them confidence. What we also offer at Schneider is a chance for up-and-coming traders to learn through performance; they can apply the knowledge we give them on simulators and we find the learning process is greater and leads to a more successful outcome."
