Kaiser Foundation Calls for Nominees for Annual Mental Health and Addictions Awards

The Kaiser Foundation launched its 2012 National Awards for Excellence Program today, welcoming nominations Canada-wide from community organizations, individuals and the media demonstrating excellence and evidence-based best practices in the field of mental health and addictions.
The Kaiser Foundation started the awards program six years ago to shine a light on the heroic leadership efforts of those who otherwise receive little or no recognition for their work.
"Our hope is that by sharing the success stories we can also help raise awareness of mental health and addictions locally and nationally and decrease the stigma associated with them," said Edgar F. Kaiser Jr., Kaiser Foundation founder and chairman.
The program includes eight award categories: Excellence in Indigenous Programming - Excellence in Community Programming - Excellence in Leadership - Excellence in Media Reporting - Excellence in Mental Health and Substance Use Programming - Excellence in Public Policy - Excellence in Youth Leadership - Excellence in RCMP Leadership.
Winners are honored at a special ceremony together with local and national dignitaries and the media. Each receives a $10,000 grant for a recognized charity of their choice. Recipients also become part of a unique and continually growing Alumni of allied professionals in the field.

The Kaiser Foundation was founded over 25 years ago by businessman and philanthropist, Edgar F.
