First-of-Its-Kind Carpet Cushion Appeals to Eco-Friendly Consumers in Canada

Nike transports its pre-manufactured shoe scrap to five Future Foam facilities across the United States where it is refined into StepAhead carpet cushion. From January through September of 2011, more than 3 million pounds of material was converted into 60 million square feet of installed StepAhead cushioning in the United States.
"StepAhead with Nike Grind is doing surprisingly well and customers seem to be receptive even though it is not the inexpensive choice," said Doug Romanoff of Romanoff Flooring, a StepAhead installer. "In a difficult economy, we often see people trading down. But with this product they have chosen to step up."
In addition to being CRI green label approved, StepAhead meets low VOC emission criteria for improved indoor air quality. The carpet underlayment is easy to handle and install, and is supported by a lifetime warranty.
