New Berlin Heart INCOR® Carrier Bag – Higher Wearing Comfort and Ergonomic Design
Berlin, 01 December 2011: During the last cardiac surgeon´s congress EACTS (European Association for Cardio-Thoracic Surgery) in Lisbon, Berlin Heart introduced the new designed carrier bag „INCOR® Smart Bag“ for the INCOR® device – a left ventricular assist device for patients suffering from severe heart failure.
(firmenpresse) - The new model offers significantly more comfort and functionality, which is most important for patients, as they carry the bag with them all the time. It contains the control unit and the two batteries for the device.
„The advantages are on one hand the modern design and on the other the improved functionality which is given by two front pockets and the transparent top window. These new features offer easy and safe management of the driving unit and batteries“, said Dr. Stefan Thamasett, General Manager of Berlin Heart, during the Smart Bag launch at the EACTS congress in November 2011. Furthermore the INCOR® Smart Bag offers individual carrying options by using shoulder or belt strap, which can be changed as needed.
The new features mainly contribute to recover the patient´s quality of life. Because of the lack of donor organs and therefore an ever-increasing demand of VADs this is a major aspect of therapy.
One of the first patients who received the bag, is Geoff Bonosevich. Since January 2011 his heart has been mechanically supported by the INCOR® device. „I am really happy about the lightweight and compact design of the new INCOR® bag“, said Geoff Bonosevich during his visit to Berlin Heart where the new bag was handed over to him. „At first sight and even after only such a short time of carrying the bag I can say, the handling is much better as the former model“.
