MOBIbucks Discusses New Methods of Payment at Wharton BizTech Conference
(firmenpresse) - LOUISVILLE, KY -- (Marketwire) -- 11/29/11 -- MOBIbucks announced today that co-founder and CEO Jorge Fernandes, one of the developers of the company's innovative and patent-pending mobile payments technology, will participate in a panel discussion on alternative currencies in today's digital world at the 2011 BizTech(at)Wharton Conference on December 2, 2011 in Philadelphia.
BizTech(at)Wharton, now in its 16th year, will bring together more than 350 prominent industry professionals who represent the latest thinking on business technology with students who will lead the next generation of eCommerce companies. Spotlighting the "Evolving World of eCommerce," this year's conference will explore current trends redefining what we pay for online and how we do it:
The panelists will discuss how rapidly evolving technology and dynamic consumer shopping habits are colliding, creating an opportunity for the largest revolution in payments since the credit card. Initiatives in new payment methods such as mobile wallets and smartphone payments, and dynamic loyalty rewards will also be discussed.
Fernandes has been a leader in the nascent mobile payment market for much of his career. He co-founded MOBIbucks, Inc. in 2008. Previously, he was founder, CEO and chairman of VivoTech Inc., the company behind near field communications, or NFC-based payment products, that are expected to make their way into next-gen smart phones. It was Fernandes who conceived and demonstrated the initial products for PayPass and NFC. He has authored over a dozen patents in payment technology, software algorithms, robotics, digital feedback, and laser systems.
