In determining the award, Frost & Sullivan benchmarked the ADVD in five categories: product innovation; use of leading-edge technologies; value-added features and benefits, customer ROI and customer penetration potential. In particular, under product innovation, the company noted:

The ADVD is a WIFI enabled desktop video device that has an 11.6-inch multi-touch screen with an integrated high definition video camera. The multi-modal device supports the Avaya Flare® Experience, and is an integrated solution that brings together multiple interactions into a single communications interface. This device enables users to communicate via multiple media types and provides access to desktop video, social media, audio/video/web conferencing, multiple directories, presence, instant messaging, and contextual history in an innovative and intuitive desktop device.
Avaya's Desktop Video Device supports the entire Avaya Aura® applications portfolio, and enables a user to consolidate tools such as a desk phone, speakerphone, and video endpoint in a single easy to use device for ad hoc or scheduled multimedia collaboration.
