Europe, South America Lead Yellow Pages Market's Transition to Online
(firmenpresse) - STAMFORD, CT -- (Marketwire) -- 11/28/11 -- The segment is driving the worldwide market for , which is expected to reach US$26.95 billion by the end of 2011, according to a recent report from publishing and media forecast firm Simba Information. The report projects that especially strong online growth in and will lead the entire worldwide yellow pages market to reach a 50/50 revenue split between online and print by 2015.
Growth in the online segment is helping to offset a decline in print revenue, which has fallen 16.7%, since 2000. Online revenues are expected to comprise 35.2% of the world yellow pages market by 2013, up from 26.6% in 2011, according to the report. South America posted the highest percentage of online revenue, followed by Europe; Asia and the Pacific Rim posted the smallest percentage.
"Europe and South America will reach nearly 50% digital and print by 2013," said Dave Goddard, senior analyst for Simba Information and author of the report. "Specifically, Belgium, Denmark, France, Sweden and Portugal already represent a 50/50 model."
According to the report, which tracks publishers in 29 leading countries representing five continents, the top 10 countries measured by revenue account for 77.4% of total online revenue. Among the top 10 countries are the United States, France and Australia.
"There's a lot of opportunity in the online segment throughout the world," Goddard said. "If you think of every device that has a means of accessing the Internet as a potential opportunity for yellow pages usage, the opportunities become limitless."
