Claire Young to Judge Bradford's Young Business Brains at Leeds Trinity's Apprentice
(firmenpresse) - LEEDS, UNITED KINGDOM -- (Marketwire) -- 11/25/11 -- Former Apprentice finalist Claire Young will visit Leeds Trinity University College next week to put sixty Bradford high school students through their business paces.
Yorkshire businesswoman Claire reached the final of the BBC's Apprentice in 2008, and is now well known as a motivational speaker and social enterprise champion. She will be setting the students a business task in the style of the popular TV show, and deciding who gets "hired".
The pupils taking part in Leeds Trinity's Apprentice are aged 14 and 15 are studying Business at GCSE or BTEC. They attend three Bradford schools - Laisterdyke Business and Enterprise College, Challenge College and Belle Vue Girls School.
While their contemporaries currently battling it out on the Young Apprentice are left alone to sink or swim on their tasks, these students will have guidance from business mentors, who are all current students on Business courses at Leeds Trinity.
Second year Business and Management student Paul Russell will be mentoring the participants. He said, "Leeds Trinity's Apprentice offers business students a great opportunity to put theory from their courses into practice and to learn from the experiences of Claire Young, with her commitment to supporting young people into enterprise."
Lucy Wright, Schools and Colleges Liaison Officer at Leeds Trinity, said, "This event is one of the many activities we run at Leeds Trinity to help raise aspirations and attainment, giving students the confidence to see university as a real possibility for them."
The event takes place on Thursday 16 November, and marks Global Entrepreneurship Week UK. This national campaign aims to promote entrepreneurship, encouraging would-be entrepreneurs to create opportunities and grow successful ventures, for the benefit of their communities and the wider economy as well as providing a livelihood for themselves.
