US Foods Charlotte Employees Collect Food to Feed the Hungry This Thanksgiving
More Than 325 Pounds of Food Donated to Local Food Bank
(firmenpresse) - CHARLOTTE, NC -- (Marketwire) -- 11/23/11 -- Employees of in Charlotte, N.C. joined together to collect more than 325 pounds of food for the Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina. Each of the 25 employees donated more than 13 pounds of food.
"We began holding food drives in 2008 and enjoyed helping the community so much that the food drives became an annual fall event," said Willie Voss, vice president of operations, US Foods Culinary Equipment & Supplies Charlotte. "Over the last three years, we've proudly donated nearly 2,000 pounds of food to help our neighbors in need."
The Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina, a Feeding America affiliate, provides resources to end hunger to almost 650 agencies in 19 counties surrounding the Charlotte area. US Foods has long been a supporter of hunger relief efforts and is a Feeding American mission partner. Since 2007, US Foods has donated more than 22 million pounds of food to more than 200 Feeding America food banks across the country.
