Thirty already are closed, and eight more are targeted to end operations by the end of December. What makes this not as bad as it might seem is the fact that this figure is considerably less than the tally of industry plant closures in 2010. Major closures in 2011 included plants owned by (NYSE:BMY) and (NASDAQ:SHPGY).
