Social Entrepreneur Fred Swaniker Is Featured on CNN Regarding His Newly Established School, the African Leadership Academy
(firmenpresse) - SAN DIEGO, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 11/21/11 -- Global Leadership Adventures founder Fred Swaniker was recently featured on CNN to discuss his newest philanthropic effort: the creation of the African Leadership Academy.
The African Leadership Academy is a premier school which selects its students based on specific credentials. Driven, service-conscious students are among the few who are invited to learn at the academy located in Africa, aimed to create the continent's leaders of tomorrow. It is Swaniker's hope that the students selected will "instill a new generation with the skills to navigate Africa towards prosperity in future years," he explained during his CNN interview.
During the interview, Swaniker expressed the importance of a leadership experience "a young person gets in their teen years, particularly," and he believes that experience lays the foundation for the student to "do something bigger, later in life."
Swaniker has expressed this opinion before during the culmination of the program. Founder of GLA, it is his hope to provide service and educational experiences for students. The GLA offers an educational abroad opportunity for students across the globe.
"We really need leaders from all walks of life to solve the diverse challenge that we have in Africa," Swaniker says. GLA and ALA are just examples of how important service and cultural-understanding are to creating a future leader.
