Houston residents are passionate about their (edible) dates -- so much so that the world's largest provider of Medjool dates, considered the most premium dates of all, has named the Texas city a "Top Date City" and included it in a Fall 2011 tour designed to encourage new spring uses for one of the world's oldest and most mysterious fruits.
