Inphi's Isolation Memory Buffer (iMB(TM)) on Micron LRDIMM Modules Achieves Intel Validation for Future Intel(R) Xeon(R) Processor E5 Family

ID: 1056646

(firmenpresse) - SANTA CLARA, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 11/14/11 -- Inphi Corporation (NYSE: IPHI), a leading provider of high-speed analog semiconductor solutions for the communications and computing markets, today announced that load-reduced dual-inline memory modules (LRDIMMs) from leading memory-module providers, enabled by Inphi's iMB™, have achieved validation from Intel Corporation for its future Intel® Xeon® Processor E5 Family. Twelve different LRDIMMs from each designed with Inphi's industry-leading iMBGS02A, have successfully passed rigorous testing by Intel to assure their compatibility and functionality in the Xeon E5 Processor Family-based servers.

Intel has published its LRDIMM validation results, available for viewing at .

Unlike traditional registered DIMMs, or RDIMMS, that limit the amount of server memory that can be installed due to their loading profile, LRDIMMs replace the register with iMB to reduce the load. This enables the servers' memory to be easily scaled upward, with more and higher-density DRAMs on each module, so that both capacity and speed are increased while using the same motherboard real estate as an RDIMM.

"Achieving validation on Intel's Xeon E5 Processor is an important milestone for Micron's LRDIMM family of modules. We have been working with Inphi as one of our key partners to enable LRDIMM technology in the industry. These initiatives are now driving next-generation high-density and high-performance memory solutions in the data center space," said Robert Feurle, Vice President of DRAM Marketing for Micron's DRAM Solutions Group.

"With Intel's validation of the iMB-enabled LRDIMMs from our valued partners, users have that assurance and can take advantage of Intel's future Xeon E5 Processor Family-based servers with the unmatched memory speed, capacity and expandability that LRDIMM technology provides," said Paul Washkewicz, Vice President of Marketing for Inphi's Computing and Storage group.

"Our process of validating these LRDIMM products is stringent and thorough, and structured to assure the modules' compatibility with and optimal performance and establish low risk in Xeon E5 family-based servers," said Geof Findley, Senior Manager, Platform Memory Operations Ecosystem Management at Intel. "It also reflects the premium we place on our industry partners, as we rely on a diverse, vibrant ecosystem for all of our server platforms."

The Inphi iMBGS02A, which is shipping in volume and fully compliant with the proposed memory-buffer specification of the JEDEC Solid State Technology Association, passed several rigorous validation tests by Intel, including frequency, voltage, capacity, LRDIMM configurations, and power consumption. The iMBGS02A was verified for compliance with Intel specifications and chipsets.
