Renewable Energy Projects Move Forward, Despite Swirl of Controversy in Washington, an Industrial Info News Alert

ID: 1056209

(firmenpresse) - SUGAR LAND, TX -- (Marketwire) -- 11/11/11 -- Written by John Egan for Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas) -- As the political controversy over the failure of solar manufacturer Solyndra LLC (Fremont, California) continues to swirl around Washington, D.C., dirt is being turned at more than a dozen renewable energy generation facilities, thanks to an 11th-hour surge in loan approvals from the U.S. Department of Energy (DoE).

The DoE's three clean energy loan guarantee programs -- Section 1703, Section 1705, and the Advanced Technology Vehicles Manufacturing (ATVM) -- stopped accepting applications for loan guarantees on September 30, 2011. Loan guarantees through those programs totaled $35.9 billion, according to DoE's Loan Programs Office.

Companies benefitting from the programs include (NASDAQ:FSLR), (NYSE:NEE) and (NYSE:SRE).
