Government of Canada Receives the Hostelling International-Canada Partner of the Year Award
(firmenpresse) - HALIFAX, NOVA SCOTIA -- (Marketwire) -- 11/10/11 -- The Honourable Peter Kent, Canada's Environment Minister and Minister responsible for Parks Canada, accepted the Partner of the Year Award today given to Parks Canada based on an open vote carried out by Hostelling International-Canada (HI-Canada).
"On behalf of our Government, I am pleased to be accepting this honour today," said Minister Kent. "Granted by the public, this award shows appreciation for our commitment to providing enriching experiences of discovery, especially for the young, and helping them to truly connect with Canada's treasured cultural and natural heritage."
Hostelling International-Canada's Partner of the Year Award is granted following an online public vote in appreciation to partners who share the organization's values and for their assistance in achieving continued success.
In 2010 Parks Canada and HI-Canada Pacific Mountain Region signed a Memorandum of Understanding to develop collaborative activities in a variety of areas, such as: public education programs and events, Aboriginal programs, conservation initiatives, exhibit development, scientific research, public communication, marketing and staff exchanges.
Parks Canada was the first national parks service in the world and is celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2011. The Partner of the Year Award complements the Gold Medal awarded by the Royal Canadian Geographical Society for Canada's leading role in expanding and preserving the Nahanni National Park Reserve of Canada.
