Activision Blizzard and Majesco Entertainment Hit All the Hottest Growth Drivers
The Bedford Report Provides Equity Research on Majesco Entertainment & Activision Blizzard
(firmenpresse) - NEW YORK, NY -- (Marketwire) -- 11/10/11 -- Retail videogame sales have been lackluster this year amid a relatively weak slate of titles. Mildly declining retail data does not fully reflect the state of the industry, however. Digital sales of video games and online subscriptions are becoming a significant revenue driver for many key players in the industry. The Bedford Report examines the outlook for companies in the Multimedia & Graphics Software Industry and provides research reports on Majesco Entertainment Co. (NASDAQ: COOL) and Activision Blizzard, Inc. (NASDAQ: ATVI). Access to the full company reports can be found at:
Video-game industry sales in the U.S. declined 4 percent to $1.13 billion in September from a year earlier, led by declines in sales of game accessories and consoles. Sales of new titles rose 3 percent to $630.2 million, Port Washington, New York-based NPD Group said. Decreased sales of Microsoft's Xbox and Nintendo's Wii could pose problems for software developers, and the rise of smartphone and social gaming could be one of the causes. Analysts argue that the sales decline is due in part to Activision and EA's slow response to social games like those made by Zynga, whose pending IPO could value it at $20 billion.
The biggest releases, including Activision Blizzard Inc.'s "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3," are due through December and could turn 2011 sales into positive territory, NPD has said.
