American Diabetes Association Launches Mobile Website for On-The-Go Diabetes Information
(firmenpresse) - ALEXANDRIA, VA -- (Marketwire) -- 11/09/11 -- The American Diabetes Association is proud to announce the launch of its to help people more easily obtain the latest news and information about diabetes via their web-enabled mobile devices. From research to recipes, the mobile site features a streamlined design with larger buttons and graphics and an increased font size, thereby minimizing the need for zooming and side-scrolling and optimizing the browsing experience for smartphone users.
"The Association wanted to appeal to its growing number of constituents who use mobile devices to access our content and connect with the diabetes community," said Mike Bolino, Managing Director of Digital Marketing, American Diabetes Association. "Increasingly, people want and expect to have information at their fingertips -- and we are doing everything we can to keep up with that trend."
The mobile site's top-level navigation mimics that of the traditional website's while also providing quick access to some of the Association's most popular and useful web content and features. For those who are just starting their journey with diabetes, there are the "Recently Diagnosed," "What Can I Eat?" and "Community" sections. Those interested in type 2 prevention can take the Diabetes Risk Test. And people interested in signing up for a local Step Out or Tour de Cure event can do so with the click of a button or a swipe of their touchscreen.
According to Nielsen, approximately 40 percent of adult mobile users in the United States own smartphones, such as Androids, iPhones and Blackberrys, and therefore stand to benefit from specially designed mobile sites.
The site is just one more way the American Diabetes Association seeks to provide its constituents with information and support at their fingertips. In recent months the Association has launched two other web-based resources, and , the latter of which has garnered more than 10,000 subscribers since its October 2011 debut.
