Purdue Honors Magnify.net CEO Steven Rosenbaum With Coveted Science Journalism Laureate
(firmenpresse) - WEST LAFAYETTE, IN -- (Marketwire) -- 11/07/11 -- Author and CEO Steven Rosenbaum will join the ranks of Science Journalism Laureates at Purdue University on Nov. 10th, 2011.
The laureates are selected based on their reputation for thought-provoking work and aptitude for translating scientific discoveries into a format the public can easily understand.
"Science journalists represent a critical step in research: communication," said professor Gabriela Weaver, co-organizer of the Science Journalism Laureates program with professor Howard Sypher.
Steve Rosenbaum is an author, filmmaker and entrepreneur. His new book "Curation Nation" provides a roadmap to a future where humans, not algorithms, help people navigate the rapidly overwhelming Web. As an innovator in film and interactive media, he created MTV UNfiltered, the first user-generated video program for the channel. Rosenbaum has produced films for A&E, Discovery, The History Channel, National Geographic, HBO, VH1, MSNBC and CNN. As a documentary Director, he is best known for his film "7 Days in September," which chronicled New York's reaction to the 9/11 attacks. His latest work on the topic, a digital book titled "9/11 Memorial: Past, Present, and Future" was listed as #1 New and Notable on the iTunes App Store. Today he is the founder and CEO of Magnify.net (), the video curation platform powering brands, publishing and community media.
Four new laureates will join 22 previous recipients selected based on their thought-provoking work and aptitude for translating scientific discoveries into a format the public can easily understand. They are Author Steven Rosenbaum, Author Sandra Aamodt, Knight Science Journalism Fellow Hepeng Jia, and senior radio editor Andrea Kissack. Previous honorees have represented The Washington Post, The Chicago Tribune, National Public Radio, Nature, Technology Review, The Chronicle of Higher Education and the Financial Times.
The laureates will take part Nov. 10 in a forum on science writing, which will be aired on Public Radio's "Tech Nation" program with host Dr. Moira Gunn.
