Advanced Digital Imaging Cuts Impression Time in Half, Eliminating Discomfort of Traditional Impressions and Ensuring Accurate Results
(firmenpresse) - HOUSTON, TX -- (Marketwire) -- 11/04/11 -- (Sugar Land) is among the first in Sugar Land to offer patients an advanced new digital imaging option for impressions, the iTero Scanner.
The less invasive imaging technology developed by Align Technology Corporation uses visible light to capture images and does not emit radioactive waves. It is changing the orthodontic experience for patients and improving overall results. .
"The iTero Scanner not only eliminates the most unpleasant part of the process for Invisalign patients, which previously involved large uncomfortable trays and a mouth full of liquid plaster, but it also captures contours with superior accuracy resulting in a more accurate fit," said Halford of Halford Orthodontics.
"In half the time it takes traditional impressions, the iTero Scanner captures our patient's impression digitally and immediately emits it on our in-office computer display. We then create a 3-dimensional landscape of their entire oral cavity and are able to view it together," added Halford.
While Halford indicated that the new digital scanning technology is currently only available for Invisalign patients and diagnostic study models it is the Invisalign impression process which has traditionally taken the longest -- and sometimes required patients to return for more impressions resulting in delays.
The iTero Scanner dramatically reduces time to treatment, as the digital map of each patient's mouth is sent electronically to Align Technologies for a rapid and more precise custom creation of aligners.
