Minister Ashfield Lends his Support to British Columbia Exhibitors at the China Fisheries and Seafood Expo

Minister Ashfield lent his support to exhibitors from British Columbia at the yesterday and met with many potential buyers and sellers at the Expo, the largest trade show of its kind in Asia.
Exports from British Columbia were valued at approximately $957 million in 2010, about $80M of which was destined for China (consisting mostly of crab, geoduck, and herring).
Overall, the three most valuable species exported from British Columbia in 2010 were farmed Atlantic salmon (48,388 t valued at $320.7 million), sockeye salmon (14,165 t valued at $101.4 million) and crab (6,747 t valued at $62.2 million).
