Ronald Reagan Statue to Be Unveiled at Reagan National Airport as Part of Reagan Centennial Celebration; November 1, 2011
(firmenpresse) - SIMI VALLEY, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 10/26/11 --
The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation announced today that a statue of Ronald Reagan will be unveiled at Reagan National Airport on Tuesday, November 1, 2011. The statue is one of several statues worldwide that are being unveiled in 2011 as part of the historic year-long celebration commemorating 100 years since the birth of our nation's 40th President.
The nine-foot tall bronze statue of President Ronald Reagan weighs approximately 900 pounds and stands in front of a 38 foot curving stainless steel wall which is four feet high at its peak and includes the cutout image of an American eagle. The statue captures President Reagan in motion, as he greets travelers arriving or departing Reagan National Airport. The statue was created by acclaimed American sculptor Chas Fagan of North Carolina, whose other works of President Reagan can be seen in the U.S. Capitol Rotunda, in Grosvenor Square in London, and at the Reagan Library in Simi Valley, California.
