New Open Source Test Case Management System Enables Collaboration Between In-House, Outsourced and Even Community-Based QA Teams

(firmenpresse) - BOSTON, MA -- (Marketwire) -- 10/25/11 -- uTest, the leader for in-the-wild , and have launched the beta version of CaseConductor, an open source test case management (TCM) system for startups and mid-sized companies. This powerful, yet easy-to-use system allows in-house QA teams, outsourced testers, and even community-based testers to seamlessly collaborate, create, manage and execute test case libraries. As a result of uTest and Mozilla's announced in April of this year, CaseConductor beta is now available for download in a , where developers and QA managers are encouraged to start leveraging this powerful tool, view source code, provide feedback on usability, and ultimately help advance the development of this TCM system.

"Historically, test case management has been a major challenge for organizations that can't afford the robust solutions available to larger enterprises," said Matt Johnston, Chief Marketing Officer at uTest. "Now, with CaseConductor's built-in reporting, QA leaders will have a cost-effective way of sharing reports about project status and app quality with others in their organization.

The Mozilla implementation of CaseConductor enables the distribution of test cases to volunteer testers in the Mozilla quality community. Moreover, with an open API, outside developers will be able to easily integrate their own tools and systems with either the uTest or Mozilla implementations.

"Working closely with our global test teams and community on test case management is essential for us, and CaseConductor will allow us to do that more effectively," said Matt Evans, QA Director at Mozilla. "We're very excited at the prospect of collaborating with other test industry experts to continue the evolution of Case Conductor in order to better support social-centric collaboration and streamline the management of writing, executing and reporting test case results across organizations."

The concept of an affordable, open source test case management system like CaseConductor is an idea that resonates throughout the testing community:

"SOASTA supports and shares uTest's vision to remove the cost and complexity in development projects though innovative and open testing approaches," said Tom Lounibos, Chief Executive Officer at SOASTA. "With this new open source test case management solution, organizations of all sizes now have a viable, modern option to manage and track testing projects with the flexibility to tie seamlessly into test automation platforms like CloudTest."
