(PresseBox) - In October, hectec GmbH began deliveries of the latest version of the mediCAD Classic planning program for orthopedic surgeons and clinics. Version 2.50 contains a significant number of new functions and has been given a refreshing facelift. Automation and revised operating procedures save the user additional time. In total, the new version contains more than 100 new functions and changes. Customers who upgrade to the new version can simultaneously take advantage of an offer for a 12-month service contract at favorable terms.
Version 2.50 integrates more than 100 new features and requests from people who use the software on a daily basis. Experiences of clinics and practices from around the world were taken into consideration. According to Jörn Seel, Managing Director of hectec GmbH: "Every new function and change focused on one key goal: maximizing certainty for the surgeon." As a secondary objective, the program interface was modernized and operating procedures revised. For example, the surgeon can now choose to plan a hip automatically or step-by-step manually. Leg length compensation and refixation can also be handled automatically or step-by-step in Expert mode.
Important new functions include straightforward importing of texts and implants into orders, a zoom function, and the ability to freely choose the size of any window, utilizing all resizing functions common to Windows programs. With the new system architecture, updates to the program and the database must be downloaded to only one PC in a network. All other PCs in the network then automatically access the latest version.
mediCAD Classic covers all areas of orthopedic surgery, from hips to the shoulders and feet and from the knees to the spinal column, documenting all procedures in a legally secure way. The mediCAD database currently includes products from 90 global manufacturers and covers more than 80% of all implants used in Europe.
The upgrade to version 2.50 costs between ?499 and ?1500, depending on the existing maintenance contract. Customers without a maintenance contract can upgrade for ?899 (plus applicable taxes), including a 12-month contract.

"mediCAD Classic" is sold exclusively through authorized partners. As of mid-2011, hectec GmbH collaborates with 80 sales partners around the world. Approximately 2500 clinics currently use the solution.
