Laser Eye Center Offers Free Children's Vision Screenings at Univision Event
La Feria Es El Momento: Educalos Publicizes Importance of Good Vision for Academic Success
(firmenpresse) - LOS ANGELES, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 10/19/11 -- Laser Eye Center, a Southern California-based network of LASIK centers that treat various eye conditions, announced that it will give complimentary vision screenings for children at the Univision Los Angeles's Third Annual La Feria Es El Momento: Edúcalos. The event will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2011, from 10:00a.m. to 5:00p.m., at California State University, Dominguez Hills.
"We are looking forward to participating in this event; our objective is to create awareness among parents about how vital and essential children's vision is to their educational success. The aim is to ultimately lower the dropout rate," said Dr. Abraham Shammas, President of . "The earlier a child has an eye exam, the quicker any eye conditions can be addressed. Studies by the (AOA) illustrate that good vision is one of the most important tools for academic success."

La Feria Es El Momento is described by Univision as a "high energy, fun and educational event for the entire family," which helps Spanish-only speaking parents who have a limited knowledge of the U.S. educational system, so that they can learn about the system and take advantage of resources and assistance provided to them in their local area by non-profit organizations and businesses. The goal is to help lower the significant school dropout rate among Hispanics. Along with Laser Eye Center, other participants at this year's event will offer dental screenings, immunizations, and educational information.
