True SEO Potential of G+ Could Now Be Realised Following Move to Open Beta Says Punch Communications
(firmenpresse) - LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM -- (Marketwire) -- 10/19/11 -- Now that Google+ has moved into open beta, the impact of the +1 button and social recommendations from within the network may start to have more of an effect, according to PR, social media and Punch Communications.
Having moved into the open beta stage of its launch a few weeks ago, Google is now rumoured to have more than 50 million users worldwide, illustrating phenomenal growth following its initial reveal back in July. As more users flock to sign up for the network, Punch has predicted that this will have a domino effect on search engine rankings as new users become accustomed with the use of the +1 button, which now has an impact on which results Google thinks are most relevant to each individual user.
Alex Smith, account manager at agency Punch Communications, said: "The +1 button is almost certain to be one of Google's main social media indicators when it comes to search rankings. As such, it's likely that as more people join G+ and begin to use the +1 button more frequently, there could be a shift in search results that are personalised to each user, since those results will now affected by the content that their contacts have +1d.
"Obviously there are hundreds of other factors to consider in search results including each user's personal search history, but based on the fact that Google has openly indicated that it has begun to allocate more relevance to social media indicators, we think that the +1 button will probably grow in power, in parallel with the growth of Google+."
