Battelle CONNECTS With San Diego Technology and Venture Community Oct. 20

Columbus, Ohio-based research giant Battelle puts its scientific know-how to work tackling all those important technological challenges and it does so upon a legacy of other long-standing significant technological achievements. The world's largest independent research and development organization has had a hand in inventing the Xerox machine, bar codes and cruise control among many other inventions spanning a breadth of scientific and technical disciplines.
Battelle joins with CONNECT, a nonprofit organization catalyzing the creation of innovative technology and life sciences products in San Diego, on Oct. 20 to familiarize San Diego's tech community with Battelle's capabilities in a three-tracked interactive seminar to hear from top experts on trends in Health and Life Sciences; Energy, Environment and Materials Sciences; and National Security.
Also joining senior leaders from Battelle are representatives from Battelle Ventures, a fund actively seeking to invest in key areas along with its affiliate fund, Innovation Valley Partners (IVP). The two groups have a combined $255 million under management to create and accelerate the development of early-stage technology companies with breakthrough solutions to key market problems.
Battelle, with local offices at 655 West Broadway in the heart of San Diego, has long had a quiet but influential presence in Southern California working with both commercial and government clients.
That work has included support to U.S. Navy, Army and Marine Corps clients, in areas such as environmental restoration and remediation, and biofuel development, as well as support to leading medical device and diagnostic companies.
