Roe, Ph.D., PE, LS covered the Geosystems track session on "How to Develop Plant As-Built Deliverables Quicker and More Accurately using a Combination of Intergraph Software and a Leica Geosystems Total Station."
The session included discussions of the benefits of the integration between the CADWorx plant design and 3D modeling software and Leica's laser scanning software technical. The product, called CADWorx fieldPipe, allows users to capture point data of the existing facility and complete an accurate as-built 3D model while still on site, saving significant time and money while providing the owner/operator with a complete model and other deliverables associated with existing plants. The article referred to that particular discussion as an "aha" moment when the writers realized that customers rather than senior management would be the drivers of integration among Intergraph, Geosystems, and Hexagon Metrology solutions.
